About us
SOPSAR CBO was founded by pastoralist community members and works with communities, government institutions and partners across Turkana County.
Who we are
Safety of Pastoralist Settlement and Rescue Community Based Organization (SOPSAR CBO) is a community based organization formed by members of the pastoralist community. It brings together community members, volunteers and professionals who work on peace, safety, settlement and rescue, alongside education, water, health, environment, child protection and livelihoods.
SOPSAR works with vulnerable groups, government institutions, NGOs, development partners and other stakeholders. Its approach is grounded in community participation, dignity and partnership rather than short-term relief alone.
Our history
11 March 2020
SOPSAR CBO is registered with 14 founding members drawn from the pastoralist community.
Growth
Membership grows to more than 103 registered members in Lokichoggio Sub-County.
Today
Work is organized around peace, settlement, safety and rescue, with programmes in education, water, environment, health and livelihoods.
